We live in an uncertain world. International news at the present time is very depressing. This article is about 4 artists who have adopted the motto “Art is the Highest Form of Hope” and are eager to share that hope with you.
In the glorious surroundings of Geraldine Robarts’ garden at 56, Kibo Lane, Karen there will be a Festival of Arts on 2nd and 3rd November. The participants are Geraldine Robarts, Gabriela Gakuo and Patrick Mukabi, with music provided by Judith Bwire. It is an opportunity for people who love Art to enjoy paintings and music and to meet other like-minded people.
There are painting classes for children which Patrick Mukabi has kindly agreed to provide. One of the most in-demand and best qualified art teachers in Kenya, Patrick made his name with amazing paintings of street and market life in Kenya and his paintings are in demand.
At the age of 85, Geraldine still paints for long hours every day and her work exemplifies superb use of colour and optimism in the face of the deteriorating world environment. She has created a full exhibition this year mainly using oil on canvas. The range of subjects is considerable and her work remains in demand with exhibitions upcoming in various countries – it’s a chance to buy international work at Kenyan prices. They are paintings with which people develop a relationship, reflecting the love and care she puts into them for you.
Gabriela is another artist who will paint compulsively anything that doesn’t move and give insight which develops with time. She is bringing a variety of new paintings to this exhibition. Again, her paintings are in demand.
Judith Bwire uses traditional Kenyan instruments fused with modern technology. She brings her team to join the event, following a performance in the USA. A conversation with her will deliver to you new insights and ideas.
All four artists are involved in work to improve the lives of Kenyans and a contribution from sales of paintings goes towards helping underprivileged Kenyan students to further their Higher Education.
The most important person in the Festival is YOU, dear reader, because your contribution is the opportunity to meet interesting and stimulating people.
